Kinja'd!!!2 Kinja'd!!! 15

Yesterday was the first time I’ve done Doordash in a few days but it turned out to be a fairly profitable night. The only problem is that it could have been much more profitable. I burned over 30 minutes before finally deciding that the restaurant I was supposed to pick up from was just plain incompetent.

First, let’s start off with this interestingly modified Nissan GTR.

Kinja'd!!!

Not really my style but I found it bemusing. Clearly professionally put together and the wheels aren’t absurdly large, so it was at least in semi good taste. Hard to see in this photo but it has one big and sharp wang.

Kinja'd!!!

Moving to the front, I can see in these pictures something I didn’t notice at the time. The front carbon fiber splitter has been crudely repaired with duct tape.

Kinja'd!!!

You can see where the front fender panel gap is covered by white tape holding the front clip on. This car is, at the very least, fully enjoyed by its owner. I hope this thing gets lots of track time. It also had a passenger racing seat but a stock drivers. Perhaps he only puts it in for track days.

Kinja'd!!!

That is one angular rear end. I like the funny shapes the shadows made.

Kinja'd!!!

Gulf livery inspired ND Miata is perfect. Although it reminded me that Mazda is currently calling it the MX-5, which I dislike.

Kinja'd!!!

6 speed non S Clubman is to die for in this color.

Kinja'd!!!

Just some old timers hanging out in front of a car repair shop.

Kinja'd!!!

I got an order from a restaurant that I was sure would take a long time to be ready so I poked around outside for a while. This Caddy was pretty rough all around but that’s not what is interesting about it.

Kinja'd!!!

Yes, a landau roof made from imitation alligator skin misaligned as to be not facing directly upwards. It didn’t stop there. The interior, or what was left of it, was trimmed in the same material.

Kinja'd!!!

At least the exterior was pretty solid, a rarity for these cars. Those vertical trim pieces were easily damaged and these cars have been practically worthless for a long time.

Kinja'd!!!

But what’s that behind it?

Kinja'd!!!

A much rougher luxo barge. I can’t quite place the model but it’s a Buick.

Kinja'd!!!

Probably an older respray and otherwise original. Pretty rough around the edges though. Amazing how such a massive vehicle can have so little usable room.

Kinja'd!!!

Yes, definitely a rough edge or two. I’ll bet the parts needed to fix this rear end are pretty hard to come by.

Kinja'd!!!

Surprisingly intact but utterly filthy interior. They don’t do opulence like this anymore and for good reason. Amazing how such a massive vehicle can have so little usable space.

Oh yeah, and the restaurant had utterly abysmal social distancing.

Kinja'd!!!

I crammed myself into a corner and waited. And waited. And waited. And spoke with many waitresses. And waited some more. I finally just cancelled the order after they told me it would be another 10 minutes after 30 minutes of them saying the same thing. It’s never too late to take an L but I should have taken it sooner.

I’ve got a ton of data on my earnings I’ve recorded but I haven’t had the time to do a proper Doordash review.

Kinja'd!!!

Let’s end with this lovely sunset over a poorly parked abandoned Suburban with four flat tires. I question the placement of that speed bump.

What was pictured but not mentioned is the green GMT800 barn door suburban next to that Caddy. I’ve got the same thing but mine is bleh GM c hampaign/beige. That however,  is a wonderful green.

Yeah I bet the GTR drivers seat has the head protection and all the stuff for helmets, not good for DD.

Yes, I wish that early 2000s forest green would come back into favor because cars just look so good in it. My dad’s 02 Tundra TRD is nearly that same color and is therefore glorious.

Too bad most of those weren't the barn doors. I remember them always being super cool, especially on the previous gen like the equally green abandoned suburban in the sunset photo.

No, I can't imagine it would be even the slightest bit comfortable either with the full racing harness. I think that basically confirms this thing is tracked.

No thank you. I can’t afford a cursed car. Which witch did you cross when you bought that thing? Though $1500 leaves some room for an engine swap. Hmmm. Nope, bad ideas go away.

It looks like a real weekend racer, has a garage associated with it and IMSA on it, posers just put a bunch of crap on it and more stickers listing what they put on it. And if I had an MX-5 I would r ebadge it with old Miata stuff.

The missing bits behind the big chrome rear bumper on that Buick would’ve been made of colored rubber. That was part of their way of making 5 mph bumpers look nice back in the day, but they do tend to deteriorate differently than the rest of the body, which explains why they’re sometimes missing. Which is too bad, because some of them were quite large:

Kinja'd!!!

Cadillac used them a lot in front and back of their cars, and they are present on the blue Cadillac you saw. They’re probably the squishiest body panels you’ll ever find...

It’s enough that I am squatting down to get the best a ngle possible of a stranger’s car. I don’t think I’ll be touching their squishy panels as well. However, you do make it sound tempt ing. I bet they are in short supply.

Even if they are in supply, I can’t figure out what they would be called to check! But especially for more obscure cars like that Buick, I imagine these are unobtainium...

Miata is the best MX-5. Always.

I thought maybe the garage that built it sponsors it in weekend racing too. They probably still do errands in it a lot.

You could always find a set on a restored car and make a mold, but that might be a lot of trouble. Junkyards are probably your friend in that case.

I think  DD is slower now because more people are getting out again and more restaurants are open for dine in. It’s weird to think it’s June 20 and some places (Chick Fil A) are still drive thru only. You’ve had like two months, bruh.

Due to my weak immune system and disdain for cleaning up after customers I have some sympathy for them. Fortunately people are always ordering out in such a popular area for restaurants but non peak areas have certainly gotten slower. Seriously though I should have canceled that the moment I saw the place filled to capacity and a very disorganized looking pile of orders to fill. 30 minutes later I couldn't take the 4th "10 more minutes."
